Taylor grew up in Loxley, AL and moved back to Baldwin County to begin his professional career after graduating from Auburn University.  He spent the first six years of his insurance career as a property underwriter in Gulf Shores AL where he managed four binders on behalf of Certain Underwriters at Lloyds of London and developed skills in insurance sales, claims management, and risk analysis. He then founded South Shore Insurance Agency in November of 2012.

Taylor serves as Past President of the  Alabama Gulf Coast Association of Independent Insurance Agents, where he also served as a Board Member, Treasurer, and Vice President.  He has traveled to Washington DC on behalf of the Alabama Association of Independent Insurance Agents to lobby for insurance reform in Alabama. As a co-founder the Local Environmental Conservation Alliance, he helped fund the building of a nationally recognized outdoor classroom in Auburn AL.
